Lead Teacher

Purpose: To provide a warm, nurturing, safe and loving Christian environment for children.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To offer a program that meets the emotional, physical, intellectual and spiritual needs of both the individual and the group.
2. To interact with the children and to encourage their involvement in activities.
3. To prepare a safe environment that is orderly, clean and appealing that permits the child to grow and explore.
4. To plan with the assistant teacher weekly lesson plans based on approved curriculum.
5.To provide assistant teachers with the opportunity to have input into the program.
6. To supervise and train staff.
7. To establish and maintain good communications with parents through parent conferences twice a year and on a daily informal basis.
8. To observe, record and report significant individual and group behavior.
9. To record all required forms for the child (medicine forms, incident forms, and notice of concern forms).
10. To use appropriate and positive discipline and to train staff so that discipline is consistent.
11. To keep staff informed of program goals and developments both with children, parents and administration.
12. To attend staff meetings.
13. And any other job related duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:

1. Reports to the Director with any staff concerns.
2. Reports to the Director in regards to children, parents and program.

Limits of Authority:

1. May take action without informing: Assign staff responsibilities within program, change a scheduled daily activity, change room arrangement, discipline child and discuss child’s activity with parent.
2. May take action but must inform: parents about sick child, change curriculum for program and leave the building with children.
3. Must have prior approval to: transfer child to another class, remove a staff person, order new equipment, release child to unauthorized person, take time off, refer parent to outside resources and change shift hours for self or staff.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma.
2. Christian leader with high moral character.
3. Ability to relate joyfully and sensitively to children.
4. Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.
5. Evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations and to use supervision constructively.
6. Physical stamina.
7. Ability to recognize and record significant individual and group behavior.
8. Ability to supervise aides and other personnel.
9. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Time Commitment:
40 hours per week.

 

Assistant Teacher

Purpose: To assist the teacher in providing a warm, safe and nurturing Christian environment in which the child can grow physically, emotionally and intellectually.

Key Responsibilities:

1. To provide the children with a safe, loving and Christian environment.
2. To meet the children’s needs in all areas- physical, emotional, social and intellectual.
3. To prepare with the lead teacher the weekly lesson plans and to provide the materials need for the projects.
4. To carry out appropriate and positive discipline as established by the lead teacher and the Center’s policies.
5. To see that the program goals are implemented.
6. To function and help build a supportive team.
7. To maintain a room arrangement that is safe, inviting, interesting and stimulation.
8. To be sensitive and responsive to parents and to act as a resource person for them.
9. To attend staff meetings.
10. To assist in record keeping for the classroom.
11. And any other job related duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationships:
1. Reports to the lead teacher of the classroom.
2. In the absence of the head teacher, reports to the Director.

Limits of Authority:

1. May take action without informing – when disciplining a child and discussing a child’s activity with a parent.
2. May take action but must inform – When calling parents about a sick or injured child.
3. Must have prior approval to – change work time and take time off.

Requirements:

1. High school diploma or G.E.D.
2. Prefer previous experience.
3. Evidence of emotional maturity and stability.
4. Evidence of sufficient security and judgment to handle crisis situations.
5. Physical stamina and ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
